First class free. Beginner-friendly Muay Thai for adults, teens, and kids in Port Isabel. No experience needed. No gear needed. No sparring your first day — just show up and Kru Claudiu will guide you.
Laguna Muay Thai is Port Isabel's first dedicated Muay Thai gym. We opened in September 2025 with one purpose: to bring the real art of Muay Thai to this community.
Muay Thai is the striking art known as "the art of eight limbs" — using fists, elbows, knees, and shins. It's one of the most complete and effective striking systems in the world, and one of the best full-body workouts you'll ever do.
You don't need to be fit, athletic, or fearless to start. Most people walk in nervous on their first day — and leave already planning their next class. There's a place for you here.
"To make Muay Thai a passion for all paths of life."
Kru Claudiu is a certified Kru (Teacher) under the Kru Muay Thai Association in Bangkok, Thailand — the body chaired by Grandmaster Woody (Chinawut Sirisompan). He brings a warm, community-first approach to every class, with small group sizes that mean real coaching, not just being lost in a crowd.
Start in Basics (Mon & Wed) and step into the Teen & Adults all-levels class (Mon–Thu, plus Saturday mornings) when you're ready. Perfect whether you've never thrown a punch or already have experience.
High-intensity, Muay Thai-based conditioning class. All the fitness benefits of Muay Thai training — cardio, strength, coordination — without the technical pressure of a full striking class.
Structured Muay Thai for kids that builds confidence, discipline, and fitness. Age-appropriate coaching in a safe, encouraging environment. A great foundation for any young athlete.
"My 10-year-old son, Ivan, absolutely loves his lessons and always looks forward to training. Since starting with Kru Claudiu, Ivan has gained so much confidence, discipline, and respect. The positive impact goes far beyond learning Muay Thai techniques. Kru Claudiu creates a supportive environment where kids can grow both physically and mentally."
"A great place to learn Muay Thai. Kru Claudiu creates an atmosphere where everyone is welcome. As a beginner it is a perfect place to train with people of all skill levels and backgrounds."

None at all. The Basics class is designed from the ground up for people who have never trained before. You'll learn stance, footwork, and the fundamental strikes in a supportive, no-pressure environment.
Just yourself and comfortable workout clothes. For your free first class, no gear is required. We'll tell you exactly what you'll need if you decide to continue — most students start with hand wraps and bag gloves.
Safety is our priority. Beginners work on technique and bag work — not sparring. Controlled sparring is only introduced later, and only when a student is ready and wants to. You are always in control of your own intensity.
Not exactly. The HIIT class uses Muay Thai movements for a conditioning workout — think circuits, bag rounds, and bodyweight exercises. Great for fitness. The Muay Thai classes focus more on learning the art itself.
Both. Kru Claudiu coaches bilingually and the community here speaks English and Spanish. You won't feel lost in either language.
The kids program is for ages 9–12 and meets Tuesday & Thursday at 4:30 PM. Call us at (956) 346-5314 for enrollment details.
No contracts. Your first class is free. After that, memberships are month-to-month. We want you here because you love it, not because you're locked in.
